Marlene is a true veteran of the animation industry in every sense of the word. Like many artists; she graduated from the California Institute of the Arts, and also attended the Los Angeles Art Center and Otis Art Institute. She started her career in 1955 with the Walt Disney Company and worked as an in-between artist and a breakdown artist in several Disney shorts featuring Donald Duck and Ludwig Von Drake and several Disney feature films including the original Jungle Book, Sleeping Beauty and the original 101 Dalmatians animated feature. When she wasn't working on Disney projects; she would be doing freelance animation for several commercials including the Yellow Submarine and the Peanuts Comic Strip. She left Disney in 1964 to work for Hanna-Barbera Productions as an assistant animator for Space Ghost, The Jetsons and The Flintstones (the original series). She worked for Chuck Jones in 1968 in the same position on several television specials including Cat In A Hat, Horton Hears A Who and even a Bugs Bunny special. She did various commercials in the 1970's under the roles of Key Assistant, Animation Checking, Coordinator, and Animated Checking and did commercials for Burger King, Keebler Cookies and Charlie The Tuna. She was also a producer and animator of several medical films for John Whiley Productions in New York for use n school textbooks. She worked as an animator for many companies during the 1970's and 1980's as an animator, animation director and timing director for such productions as Fat Albert, Sports Billy and The Lone Ranger for Filmation in the late 1970's. She returned to Hanna in the early 1980's for Rock Odyssey and Heidi's Song before working for Ruby-Spears in the mid 1980's where she worked on a number of productions as an Overseas Supervisor for Hanho Studios and Toei. Marlene returned to Disney in the late 1980's to work as a Supervising Timing Director for Walt Disney Television Animation (Ducktales) and also worked overseas with Disney TV's overseas animation department (WD Japan, Sun Woo, Wang Films etc.). She left Disney after Goof Troop was completed to work as a freelance animation director for Universal (Widget and Exo-Squad); then she worked with several companies between 1993-present on several projects (X-Men, Bobby's World, Duckman, Earthworm Jim, Mighty Ducks and many others which are listed on her official website). Marlene Robinson May is currently a retired member of the M.P.S.C. Local 839 and still works as a freelance timing and animation director with her recent project being Ed, Edd & Eddy. She currently lives in Port Angeles, Washington State.

She is Supervising Timing Director and Timing Director of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
