"Fish Out of Water" is the second segment of the nineteenth episode of the first season of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It originally aired on January 21, 1989.

Synopsis

It’s the migration of the muttonhead trout in the Hundred Acre Wood, and Gopher moves in with Rabbit. Rabbit thinks of a plan to make it rain to get the muttonhead trout out, and with Eeyore currently wishing to fly, it’s a good one of Rabbit’s plans that are about to be done.

Plot

When the muttonhead trout come upstream to the Hundred Acre Wood, Gopher moves in with Rabbit, much to his dismay, as he starts renovating Rabbit’s house to look like his. Then Rabbit has a plan to get the muttonhead trout out of town: make it rain. He, Pooh and Piglet launch Eeyore into the skies and don’t remember about him until late at night. Then Pooh thinks of a plan to get him down: to get Eeyore down, that will get the cloud down. When Gopher tells Rabbit that the muttonhead trout will come back downstream in a few months, Rabbit goes crazy and decides that “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em”, swimming upstream with the fish.

Trivia

  • This is three of four episodes that Tigger does not appear in.
  • The muttonhead trout seem to make slight murmuring noises. However, no types of fish actually make noises such as this.
