"Don Pooh Xote" is the first segment of the sixteenth episode of the first season of The Book of Pooh.

Synopsis[]

Pooh and Piglet role play their own spin on the classic tale of Don Quixote and search for the Land "Bee-yond."

Plot[]

Owl had invited Pooh to his house to listen to him read "Don Quixote", which Pooh was enjoying. Owl stops in the middle of the story for his nap and promises to read more the next day. He mentions Don Quixote being on a quest for his "dulcinea", which Pooh asks about and Owl says is Spanish for "sweet one." Pooh returns home and sits on a rock waiting for the next day to arrive. Piglet shows up and Pooh explains his situation, to which Piglet suggests he pretends to be Don Quixote to pass the time. Pooh takes interest in the idea and dresses up as a knight named "Don Pooh-Xote" while having Piglet be his squire named "Sancho Panchetta". They begin a quest to find Pooh's dulcinea in the Land Bee-Yond, on the way arriving at a tree. Pooh pretends a magician had cast a spell that turned it into a kind of windmill capable of changing into a giant. He charges at it, but trips on a rock and crashes into it, which he imagines broke the spell reverted the windmill to a tree. As they continue, Piglet starts feeling tired and feels like stopping, to which Pooh explains in song one on a quest for a dulcinea must continue on and let nothing stop them. They soon arrive at Rabbit's garden where Pooh pretends Rabbit is the magician and asks for permission to cross his garden, which Rabbit agrees to. They come across a scarecrow and Pooh imagines it is a knight. He tries pulling out his make-believe sword, which is really a spoon, but it flings out and hits Rabbit. Rabbit asks Pooh to be careful with his scarecrow, so Pooh decides to give the "magician" mercy as he and Piglet continue on. Eventually, they arrive at the Land Bee-Yond, which is a honey tree. Pooh charges at it while jumping off a rock and ends up stuck in a tree hole. Pooh is nonetheless happy to be reunited with his dulcinea: honey.
